Preliminary Design
Marine Infrastructure & Upland Improvements
Overview
In spring of 2022, the City completed a climate-ready Conceptual Design and Roadmap for the Downtown Waterfront using a consensus-building stakeholder approach that brought stakeholders together around a common vision. The resulting Conceptual Design has been endorsed by diverse stakeholders and committees, site users, project neighbors, the City's Harbor Management Commission, and City Council.
The Preliminary Engineering phase of this Downtown Waterfront Project, which is split into two parts - marine and landside improvements - was completed in spring and fall of 2023, respectively. Marine improvements include the Public Landing, Middle Pier, and proposed boardwalk. The landside portion of the project includes updates to parks.
